VERDICT

There is a lot to love about this little convection toaster oven: you can quickly and easily prepare both snacks and individual meals in little to no time at all, it uses less electricity than a full size oven, and everything you put in it is baked to perfection. Pizza cooks all the way through and crisps nicely on the top and bottom, making even a frozen personal pizza for dinner into a delightful feast.

Got a craving for chocolate chip cookies but not sure you want to make a full batch? Slice a couple off that roll of cookie dough in the fridge and bake up just a few to treat yourself to a warm, delicious dessert.  This little oven does it all, and it functions exceptionally well regardless of what you are baking, broiling, or slow cooking. Best of all, you can have a fresh hot meal without heating up the whole house or apartment to do so.

The Smart Oven Pro Convection Toaster Oven from Breville is hands down one of the easiest to use and easiest to own convection toaster ovens on the market. It provides exceptional value and performance that are sure to last for years to come.

Product Overview

We all invest hundreds of hours per year into meal prep, and all too often our food comes out of the oven only partially cooked in some places and still frozen in others. Worst still, when preparing certain side dishes takes forever because they take so long to bake thoroughly. It is immensely frustrating to invest all that effort with little to show for it.

Fortunately, Breville has their BOV845BSS Smart Oven Pro. This countertop 1800-Watt toaster oven uses small fan to bake, roast, broil, or cook your food by evenly distributing the heat throughout the interior. No more hot and cold spots, and not more foreverlong waiting by the oven for your baked dish to finish cooking all the way through.
Let’s take a look at the key features and options of this convection oven, as well as what sets it apart as an exceptional value. After a thorough review, we’ll also make recommendations for who would benefit most from buying a Breville Smart Oven Pro.

Here’s our review of the best features of this convection toaster oven, as well as what we love best about its capabilities and functionality.

Highlighted Features

Internal Capacity

Despite its small footprint, this toaster oven has a large internal capacity. You can toast six slices of bread at the same time, and several small baking dishes are included that to let you take full advantage of the vast internal space. Want a crispy, delicious personal pizza that doesn’t still taste like the freezer? Skip the microwave and fit up to a 13” personal pizza inside your Smart Oven Pro.

Ultra-Precise Element IQ Heating and Cooking Technology

The presets for this toaster oven are calibrated to ensure that your dishes and snacks are all baked to perfection. All 10 presets are designed to make preparing most dishes to their ideal temperature and appearance a matter of pushing a few buttons. You don’t need to do complex calculations or figure anything out. Just pop your food in the Smart Oven Pro and punch in the preset.

Non-Stick Interior

While most people might not consider the value of this feature, it is definitely the sleeper hit for this particular convection toaster oven. Grease spatters and sprays, food overcooks, and dishes spill. Even in the unlikely event that something burns, it definitely leaves a mess inside your toaster oven. With the Smart Oven Pro though, the entire inside is coated with a non-toxic non-stick coating that lets you clean up your spills and spatters quickly and easily without the need for harsh chemicals and vigorous scrubbing. That alone makes for a fantastic value when you consider how difficult it is to clean most conventional toaster ovens.

Who is this for?

This is the perfect toaster oven for college students sharing an apartment, as it cooks fast and doesn’t require using the main oven in the kitchen and forgetting to turn it off before leaving for work or class. It also makes food taste far better than food prepared in a microwave. The Smart Oven Pro is also ideal for families with older children who need to fend for themselves after school to make hot snacks or meals quickly and safely.

Who is this not for?

Families who can sit down for meals together or have younger children will probably find this a somewhat unnecessary appliance if meal prep time is not at a premium. Moreover, if your large appliance oven in your home already has a convection feature, this may also seem like a redundant device.
